In 2015, I embarked on a journey that would become a cornerstone of educational and community development in Benghazi, Libya. I founded the Vision Training Center (VTC), a private company dedicated to providing training, consultancy, and research services to a diverse range of community members, including corporations, individuals, people with special needs, and civil society organizations (CSOs). This venture not only aimed to foster personal and professional growth but also sought to address broader community needs.

Expanding Educational Influence

One of the pivotal achievements during my tenure at VTC was the development of a comprehensive system to supervise, support, and train English language teachers at two private elementary schools. This initiative not only enhanced the quality of education but also expanded my influence within the community. By empowering educators with the skills and resources they needed, we were able to create a ripple effect that significantly improved the learning outcomes for countless students.

Empowering Through English

Recognizing the growing importance of English language proficiency in today’s globalized world, I organized a series of English-language courses aimed at boosting employability and opening up new opportunities for individuals. Over the years, we had the privilege of teaching more than 2,300 students, helping them gain the skills needed to succeed in a competitive job market. These courses became a beacon of hope for many, enabling them to secure better jobs and improve their quality of life.

Strategic Vision for Sustainable Growth

Crafting a long-term vision for VTC was crucial for ensuring its sustainability and relevance in an ever-changing educational landscape. I developed both long and short-term strategies that guided our operations and growth. These strategies included designing a comprehensive program focused on enhancing employment possibilities. On average, 150 men and women graduated each year with enhanced language and teaching skills, empowering them to uplift their families and communities.

Building a Reliable and Productive Team

A significant part of our success at VTC can be attributed to the robust training packages implemented for our employees. These packages were designed to develop their skills and create a reliable, productive team. Through continuous professional development, we cultivated a culture of excellence that was reflected in the quality of services we provided to our clients and community.

Monitoring and Capacity Building

Education is a continuous process, and monitoring its progress is essential for meaningful growth. I took on the responsibility of overseeing the educational processes and capacity-building initiatives at VTC. By keeping a close eye on these areas, we ensured that our programs remained relevant, effective, and aligned with the evolving needs of our community.

Hosting and Supervising Community Events

Community engagement was at the heart of VTC’s mission. I had the honor of hosting and supervising a variety of community events, including the debate program organized by the Libyan Debate Club, initiatives with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), and programs like Tanmia 360 and She Codes. These events brought together hundreds of participants from around the world, fostering a spirit of collaboration and cultural exchange.

Giving Back to the Community

At VTC, we believe in giving back to the community that supports us. Each year, we offered seasonal free classes for individuals from low-income backgrounds. Additionally, we selected one student annually for a scholarship to study at VTC, providing them with a life-changing opportunity to further their education and career prospects.

Promoting Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration

Throughout my time at VTC, I led numerous workshops and seminars open to the public. These events, involving various stakeholders from different fields, served as platforms for knowledge sharing and meaningful discussions. They promoted collaboration, inspired innovation, and helped build a stronger, more connected community.

As I reflect on my journey with Vision Training Center, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the impact we have made. The foundation laid during these years has set the stage for continued growth and development, not just for VTC, but for the entire community of Benghazi. Moving forward, I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and remain committed to fostering education, empowerment, and positive change.
